Director
of Photography Peter Ney is a busy man. Whether he is shooting
Jay Walking with Jay Leno, working on the 2003 Academy Awards
show opening in the studio, or lensing an independent feature
or award-winning short film, Ney is quickly building a reputation
as the busiest HD shooter in town.
Ney
has an all-Sony arsenal of cameras at his disposal
all Sony, from a D600 to an F900. This faithfulness to Sony
equipment paid off because the F900 Cine Alta helped open
doors in his career. Says Ney: I had a hard time getting
into filmmaking. The independents didnt pay and I
couldnt get the big films. Now I can shoot movies
and actually start making a living with the camera rental.
He
has also been a loyal Band Pro client for a decade. Ney
explains: Theres no one like them. Theyre
so supportive. Like the time I was shooting on a Saturday
in Hollywood and someone ripped the camera out of my hands.
The thug sped off and I was standing there wondering what
I was going to do for my 7 a.m. call the next morning. I
phone Band Pros emergency line. They got me a new
camera that day and I kept my client.
